I would have to say that vaccinations have always troubled me. Though I could never really explain my inclination to avoid them, I managed to choose a less than recommended pathway for my minor children. Each of our children were overdue for most of the vaccines and were thus required to have them at an older age. If a new vaccine was offered, I declined it until the vaccine was made mandatory - many shots were not given until our kids needed them for college admittance. Thankfully, we completely avoided the Gardasil vaccine. A few years after refusing Gardasil for my daughter, I watched on the news that a group of young girls in New York suffered from a mystery Turrets-like illness. The story disappeared from the news quite suddenly and now there are sources that suspect a link to Gardasil that was deliberately hushed.
Flu shots are another vaccine that I refuse to take. When given from a multi-dose package, flu shots still contain thimerosal. Here is a quote directly from the CDC: "Since seasonal influenza vaccine is produced in large quantities for annual immunization campaigns, some of the vaccine is produced in multi-dose vials, and contains thimerosal to safeguard against possible contamination of the vial once it is opened."

The assault of so many vaccinations given to young children has resulted in so many tragic stories.
